Academic overview

Istanbul Medipol University was founded in July 2009 by the Turkey Education, Health and Research Foundation (TESA) and started teaching in 2010 at its Haliç (Unkapanı) campus. Today it has 12 faculties, 4 vocational schools and 5 graduate institutes, offering more than 78 bachelor's, 62 master's and 43 PhD programmes.

Medipol's defining feature is the close link between teaching and hospital practice: Medicine and health-science students receive clinical training at Medipol Mega University Hospital, one of the largest university hospital complexes in Türkiye. Alongside health, the university offers engineering, law, business, psychology, architecture and communication programmes.

The university operates under the Council of Higher Education of Türkiye (YÖK), and its degrees are officially recognised.

Campus life

Medipol has two main campuses on either side of the Bosphorus, plus a teaching hospital complex:

Kavacık Campus (North and South): in Beykoz on Istanbul's Asian side, near the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge; home to most faculties, including Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Engineering and Health Sciences, as well as the university dormitories
Haliç Campus (Unkapanı): in Fatih on the European side, on the Golden Horn; home to the School of Health Sciences and most associate degree programmes
Medipol Mega University Hospital (Bağcılar): where Medicine and health-science students receive clinical training

Admissions

Associate and bachelor's

Passport, high school diploma or graduation certificate, and transcript
Minimum high school average of 60%; for Iranian applicants at least 12/20, and 15/20 for Medicine and Dentistry
An SAT score (minimum 1000/1600) is optional and improves scholarship chances
Applying is free; results are usually announced within one week

Language

English-taught programmes: IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL iBT 84, PTE Academic 71 or 75 in the Medipol proficiency exam; without a certificate, students take the English preparatory year

Master's and PhD

Previous degree and transcript, CV, statement of purpose and two reference letters
ALES is not required for international applicants; assessment is based on GPA and an interview

After admission

After the conditional offer, the tuition deposit is paid directly to the university's official account; it is non-refundable and deducted from tuition
The official acceptance letter is issued for the student visa
At registration: original documents, official Turkish translations, diploma equivalency certificate and photos
