Academic overview

Okan University was founded in 1999 by the Okan Culture, Education and Sports Foundation and began teaching in 2003–2004. It offers programmes in English, in Turkish and in bilingual formats (Chinese, English or Russian together with Turkish). Faculties include Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Health Sciences, Engineering and Natural Sciences, Law, Business and Administrative Sciences, Art, Design and Architecture, Humanities and Social Sciences, Education and Applied Sciences.

In the THE World University Rankings 2027 the university is in the 1801–2000 band, and in the THE Asia University Rankings 2026 in the 601–800 band.

Okan University holds full five-year institutional accreditation from YÖKAK, the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (2025). Campus life

The main Tuzla campus near Sabiha Gökçen Airport covers about 158,000 m², and the university also has a campus in Mecidiyeköy (Şişli). Facilities include the 250-bed Okan University Hospital in Tuzla, dental hospitals, a 1,000 m² medical simulation centre, five dormitories with about 1,500 beds, and a sports centre with a semi-Olympic indoor pool.

Admissions

International applicants are admitted mainly on the basis of their high school diploma and grades. Students without an English certificate take the Okan proficiency test, and those who do not pass attend the English Preparatory School. After the final acceptance letter, students apply for a student visa and, after arrival, for a residence permit with health insurance. Taktik reviews each applicant’s documents free of charge.
