What is Türkiye Bursları, and what is Taktik's role?

Türkiye Bursları (Türkiye Scholarships) is the Turkish government's full scholarship, run by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB). Applying is free and only possible through the official TBBS system. According to the head of YTB's International Students Department, candidates can apply on their own without any intermediary, agency or paid consultant.

So, to be clear: Taktik has no role in this scholarship and cannot improve your chances. We wrote this page because hundreds of people ask us about it every year, and because most applicants are not selected and need a plan B ready in advance.

2027 application dates

  • By the official calendar, the general scholarship opens every year from 10 January to 20 February.
  • In the 2026 cycle, applications opened on 10 January and were extended to 25 February because of high demand.
  • The exact 2027 dates had not been announced on the official site as of 2 November 2026; any site that states "2027 dates" as final has no official source. We will update this page after the official announcement.

What are the real odds?

Nearly 200,000 people applied in 2026 (2025: 125,668 applicants from 171 countries). YTB says it awards about 5,000 new scholarships a year. That is roughly one in 40 applicants. The number is not meant to discourage you; it is why you prepare a second option at the same time.

If you are not selected: plan B

Results come out in August, by which time most Turkish state universities have closed admissions. Private universities in Türkiye and Northern Cyprus, however, accept applications until September, and most offer their own tuition discounts:

Applying to these universities through Taktik is free and you pay tuition directly to the university. The admission decision is the university's, and no outcome is guaranteed.

Frequently asked questions

Does paying someone improve my chances? No. The application is free and only on the official system. YTB has said explicitly that no intermediary is needed.

Do I need Turkish? No. A one-year Turkish course is part of the scholarship. For English-taught programmes the university may ask for an English certificate.

Can I apply to a private university at the same time? Yes. A private-university application creates no obligation, and you can withdraw if you win the scholarship.
